Desk Report:
Changing the name of BPL franchise is not a new thing. Ownership changes frequently, so do the names. Some people criticize it. This time Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has decided the names of BPL teams. The 12th BPL is going to be organized with 5 teams. BCB had announced two days ago who is the owner of which team. The names of the teams were officially announced today. The names of two of the five teams remain unchanged – Dhaka Capitals and Rangpur Riders. Dhaka Capitals will be managed by Remark Harlan, Rangpur Riders will be managed by Bashundhara Kings. Triangle Services Limited has now acquired ownership of the Chittagong franchise and the team will be named Chittagong Royals.
The Rajshahi team acquired by Nabil Group will be named Rajshahi Warriors. Additionally, Sylhet Titans will play under the ownership of ‘Cricket with Sami’. Although the BCB has initially given ownership to five franchises, they will not be allowed to participate in the draft unless they receive a bank guarantee of Tk 10 crore within five working days, the BCB has said. The draft of players for this season of BPL will be held on 17th November. The 12th season of BPL will start in the second week of December and end in mid-January.
